Into the Wet and Wooly Wild
More than 30 Riversiders of all ages gathered in the woods at Camp Adams last weekend for our “Into the Wild” retreat.
Heavy rains on Friday evening gave way to cloudy but dry skies on Saturday, as we ventured out for nature walks, a campfire sing along, and exploration of the labyrinth.
Saturday night’s Variety Show (no talent required:) was a big hit. The grand finale, an “Avon Lady” skit led by Kathryn Murray and friends, left most eyes filled with tears of laughter.
We also had the opportunity to hear from Natalie Becker about the health of the beloved Camp Adams forest. Of particular concern are the Western Red Cedars, which are being hit hard by climate change and dying at an alarming rate.
Before departing, we presented a beautiful gift basket of Gorge goodies to Natalie and Bob, who will soon be leaving their position as camp co-directors after more than 10 years of spirit-filled leadership.
